News Release: eID-Me Mobile Digital Identity App Launches in Saskatchewan and Adds Support for US Passport

eID-Me is now available for download on iOS and Android in British Columbia

Ottawa, ON (October 28, 2020) – Today Bluink announced the launch of the eID-Me digital identity mobile app in Saskatchewan, with new support for Saskatchewan Driver’s Licence and Photo ID Card as well as US Passport. eID-Me launched in Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia earlier this year.

With adoption by organizations, eID-Me will let users share information (with users’ initiation and consent) to better access services that require verified identity. eID-Me integrations are now being developed.

eID-Me isn’t currently a substitute for legal ID. However, eID-Me can be used as a secure, local backup of ID information on the user’s smartphone. ID information is not stored in the cloud, and Bluink never gets access.

“Bluink’s mission is to empower people and businesses by making secure access simple using strong identities,” says Steve Borza, CEO of Bluink. “To prove our commitment, our current vision is focused on enabling a self-sovereign digital identity for every Canadian. That’s how eID-Me came to life. As we are continuously developing partnerships on different levels for integration and adoption, we are also working hard to enable citizens to verify their ID and register for their eID-Me digital identity on their smartphones, all from the comfort of their own home, anywhere in Canada.”

To register for eID-Me, users will need a:

  1. Passport (Canada or US), and
  2. One of the following ID cards (without an address sticker):
    • Driver’s Licence (Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, or Saskatchewan)
    • Ontario Photo Card
    • BC Services Card
    • Combined BC Driver’s Licence and Services Card
    • Saskatchewan Photo ID Card

Bluink is adding support for more ID documents to let more users register for eID-Me.

The eID-Me digital identity mobile app can be downloaded on iOS and Android.
